Trapezoid is a remarkable Hammered Dulcimer app designed for the iPad. Crafted by an experienced Hammered Dulcimer player, this virtual instrument authentically reproduces the sounds and feel of a physical dulcimer.

Equipped with a complete range mirroring a standard 15/14 instrument, Trapezoid accommodates both Standard and Michigan tunings. In dulcimer terminology, 15/14 denotes 15 bridges on the Treble (left) side and 14 on the Bass (right) side.

To play, users simply tap the strings adjacent to the designated bridges, emulating the real-life playing technique. For a repeated note effect known as "drag roll," users can swiftly swipe horizontally across the strings, with sensitivity customizable in the settings menu for varied responsiveness.

Toggle between Hard and Soft hammer sounds by selecting the corresponding label in the upper left corner of the screen. For MIDI enthusiasts, Trapezoid supports external MIDI keyboard connectivity via a hardware MIDI interface or compatible MIDI controller or player apps.

When utilizing MIDI, note that Trapezoid offers velocity sensitivity based on the velocity data received with Note-on events. The MIDI range spans from A2 to D6, reacting dynamically to changes in volume through MIDI commands.

A tap on the note names icon in the upper left corner reveals string notations, while accessing the settings screen allows users to customize volume levels, instrument styles, tuning preferences, display options, and MIDI configurations.

Utilize the "StrikeZones" instrument style for precise guidance on where to touch for each note, enhancing both learning and teaching experiences. The app delivers detailed control over hammer effects, drag roll settings, MIDI channels, and audio equalization for optimal sound output.

For remarkable sound quality on iPad Pro devices boasting stereo speakers, adjusting the "Soft Hammer Filter" to "Headphones" enhances audio fidelity when using soft hammers.
